The Boston Celtics appear willing to make major roster changes to balance a chance for a championship run and future financial flexibility.
The Celtics offered Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo to the Detroit Pistons for a package that included Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince and Rodney Stuckey, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Boston general manager Danny Ainge and Detroit’s Joe Dumars never spoke, but rather the Celtics had a lower-level executive make the pitch to a Pistons official over the past weekend, league sources said. Detroit immediately rejected the idea, and it never advanced to the two top executives speaking about particulars.

Honestly, I would of been for this trade if it went through. We’ve heard a lot of trade rumors regarding Rondo and Allen, but this one sounds most legit. This trade would of been great for us short-term receiving two all-stars and one young point guard. Although Rondo is a better player and has a lot more upside, I believe that Stuckey could hold his own being the starter on a lineup which we would of had. Also, this trade would of made our bench stronger.
In some ways I can understand why the Pistons didn't do this trade, but yet again it would of helped them. We know that the team is getting old, and most likely they need to start rebuilding. This trade would of gave them a future all-star in Rondo, who has a lot more upside than Stuckey does. It would of also gave them cap relief at the end of next season as Allen has an expiring contract, which is something rebuilding teams look for. I would of been happy if this trade happened as it would have been good for both teams, but I know more rumors will occur.
